Indian Doctor

Rondo is extremely pleased to be producing a second series of the daytime comedy drama, The Indian Doctor for BBC One.

The first series of 5 x 45 minute episode starring Sanjeev Bhaskar as a high-flying immigrant doctor who finds himself working in 1960s Wales, focused on the Asian doctors who came to Britain following an invitation by then health minister, Enoch Powell.

Featured as part of a week-long strand of factual programmes by the BBC looking at social changes during the decade, the drama was well received by viewers and critics alike, winning a Royal Television Society award.

Co-produced with Avatar, filming took place in the village of Blaenavon, Monmouthshire and the series was aired in November 2010 to much aclaim.

The second series, set at a time when smallpox was prevalent in south Wales, will be shown on BBC One in 2012.
